Reporting a problem
The fastest route is inside the app: Help → Report a Bug. That opens an email pre-filled with your Kutio version, your macOS version, your Mac model, and the last error the app hit, which is usually everything needed to diagnose the problem.
It deliberately includes no file names, folder names or paths, so it is safe to send even when the archive involved is private. See our Privacy Policy.
If you are writing by hand instead, it helps enormously to include:
- Your Kutio version, from Kutio → About Kutio
- Your macOS version
- The archive format involved, for example
.zip,.7z,.rar - What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
Common questions
Is Kutio free?
Opening, browsing, previewing, extracting and verifying archives are free forever, with no limits and no time restrictions. If someone sends you an archive, you can always get your files out without paying. Kutio Pro adds creating archives, editing them in place, AES-256 encryption and splitting into volumes.
I paid, but Kutio Pro is not unlocked.
Open any Pro feature and choose Restore Purchases on the sheet that appears. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you purchased with.
Can Kutio create RAR archives?
No, and it never will. RAR’s compression format is proprietary, and the licence for the extraction tool Kutio uses explicitly forbids building a RAR-compatible archiver with it. Kutio extracts RAR archives and always will.
Where did my extracted files go?
Wherever you chose in the destination panel. Kutio defaults that panel to the folder the archive itself is in, so unless you navigated elsewhere, your files are next to the original archive.
Does Kutio upload my files?
No, and it cannot. Kutio contains no networking code of its own; the only network access it makes is Apple’s App Store checking your Kutio Pro purchase. Every archive operation happens entirely on your Mac.
Refunds
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested through Apple rather than through us, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
If something is broken, write to us first. We would much rather fix it.
